“Governments are not the solution, governments are the problem.”
“The only business the government doesn’t mind, is it’s own”
Where to begin. “The government is merely a servant–merely a temporary servant, it cannot be it’s prerogative to determine what is right and what is wrong, and decide who is a patriot and who isn’t. It’s function is to obey orders, not originate them.” Mark Twain
The first thing that comes to my mind when I think of government is the way the American Indians made their decisions. They would consider what the effects of their decisions would be seven generations down the line. What an incredible idea! All their decisions about the land or the water or the air or how they were living were made with this seven generation principal. Would we be polluting our environment the way we are if this principal were in effect? I think not. It does seem like long term planning is important especially when dealing with the environment, and dealing with our social order.
This experiment in social and economic order has been many facited over our existence on planet earth. Many people have had good ideas and many have had incredibly bad ideas. There have always been leaders for others to follow. This is one of the things that government counts on, that they know better than you. They speak better than you, they seem to know where there going, their better educated than you, they have more money than you. They tell you what you want to hear, what you should hope for, what your obligations are and what laws they decide to rule you by. I like the idea of assemblies, where everyone is on an equal footing and everyone has a voice, not just the Best and Brightest or the Anointed ones. I have faith in the common sense of people as long as you can keep Superstition (religion) out of the mix. We all live on this planet together and no one has a right-even a God given right-to rule over other people. We have been subject to many different forms of government and all of them without exception have improved the lot of a few at the expense of the many.
Governments sell patriotism to the masses so they’ll have plenty of people to fight their wars. Don’t you think that when they sing national anthems in other countries that these other countries are feeling the same pride and feeling of belonging that you feel. I’ll defend my country to my death, and so you have, for many generations you’ve been sacrificing your sons and daughters and husbands and mothers and brothers. How long will you let them sell you the idea that we’re better than them? That our country or our religion or our ethnicity or our position in the world makes us better than anyone else is absurd. The governments
divide and conquer and protect their own interest by selling division. We have to use the planets resources in a more scientific way by sharing them in a manner that is best for the planet and best for mankind. To have some people with so much that they waste, and others with nothing is not right. The expression, a rising tide lifts all boats, comes to mind when I think that maybe we will find a better way to behave on this planet we call earth.
The words of the late John F. Kennedy come back to haunt us. He said, “Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.”
U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower argued against the strengthening corporatocracy in the form of a military-industrial complex that sets national and international financial, economic, political and military policies due to a permanent war economy.
After looking up all the different ways we have to govern ourselves the one that came closest to what America is today, is a corporatocracy.
The concept of corporatocracy is that corporations, to a significant extent, have massive power over governments, including those governments nominally elected by the people. They exercise their power via corporate monopolies and mergers, and through their subsequent capacity to leverage governance in national or international affairs.
This allows them the luxury of being declared “too big to fail”; this is accomplished by legal mechanisms (i.e., lobbyists, campaign contributions to office holders and candidates, threats to leave the state or country for another with less oversight and/or more personally beneficial subsidies, etc.), which renders them immune to vague accusations and prosecution. It may also refer to an unrealized form of government or theoretical corporate governance in national or international affairs.
Between the Supreme Court saying that corporations are people and the citizens united case that let’s corporations donate unlimited amounts of money to the candidate of their choice, we have allowed corporations unlimited control of our lives. Just because the supreme court says that this is the way it should be doesn’t mean that it is right. When you have the supreme court making decisions based on political philosophies that’s where they tip the justice scales. Corporations are not people corporations have no moral compass, right and wrong have very little to do with their decisions. Corporations in America seem to only have quarterly profits in mind when they make their decisions. Corporations have no conscience or regrets they move to where the labor is cheapest, they hire children. By the way we outlawed child labor in our country yet we allow our corporations to go overseas and do this exact thing. What hypocrites.
It is not the charge of governments to legislate morals. They have no business making laws that tell women what they can or can’t do with their bodies. Whatever their decision it is their’s and their’s alone. The issue of gays getting married or joining the military is not for the government to decide, it is their inalienable right to live the way they choose. I don’t care if someone wants to marry a duck or put a golden duck on the mantle and pray to it. Just don’t kill me for not believing the way you do. There are lots of paths we can take to try and fulfill Our lives, and no one of them is right for everyone. Diversity is what makes our lives interesting, it is what gives us strength. Government should be the last entity to decide whether a prisoner should live or die. A civilized society has no business in the business of death to those they deam worthy of the death penalty. Times change, morals change, and what was once a heinous crime at a later date is not thought of in the same light. We have to grow as a society and take the higher moral ground when we have the choice, and mind our own business.
